While his contemporaries languish in dismal comedies (De Niro) and lame thrillers (Pacino), Christopher Walken continues to challenge himself and improves with age. Here he plays Peter, a cellist whose been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and must retire. His fellow musicians, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener and Mark Ivanir, start to seriously unravel (affairs, break-ups and punch-ups) now that their bedrock and mentor, Peter, is leaving. An understated, beautifully acted chamber piece.
