This year's funniest comedy stars Kristen Wiig, also its co-writer, as a woman whose efforts to organise a pre-wedding party for her best buddy, Maya Rudolph, are stymied by another friend, the sickeningly perfect Rose Byrne.

Produced by Judd Apatow, Bridesmaids has the loose, chatty charm which his films usually have, plus the beautifully sustained comic set pieces which they usually lack.
