A brilliant journalist (Michael Nyqvist) is down on his luck after an investigation goes wrong when he is framed for libel by a crooked billionaire industrialist.

He is pencilled in for a bit of "me time" at the Swedish government's pleasure. Until then, he takes an assignment from a sympathetic billionaire businessman, (there's loads of billionaires in Sweden) to uncover the strange disappearance of his young niece 40 years earlier.

What ensues is a gruesome tale of serial murder with more twists than a Sixties dance-athon. The two main characters from Stieg Larsson's book are both anti-heroes, one the world-weary reporter, the other a Goth computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) – one of the most intriguing and dysfunctional creations in modern literature. Click the English version, pop a bottle of red, crack open the popcorn and watch it spookily late, with a mate.
