DVD: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, For retail & rental (Momentum)

Adapted from the first of Stieg Larsson's "Millennium" crime novels, TGWTDT spends half its running time telling us the back stories of its two heroes, a campaigning journalist (Michael Nyqvist) who has a jail term looming, and the titular tattooed hacker (Noomi Rapace).

It's disappointing, then, that those back stories have so little to do with the rest of the film. Their eventual adventure is only one twist away from Seven, Silence of the Lambs and the 1990s' other serial killer thrillers.
