Weirdly, Phyllida Lloyd's Iron Lady devotes just half of its running time to Margaret Thatcher's upbringing and political career.
The other half imagines what life might be like for the Baroness (an Oscar-winning Meryl Streep) today, as she dodders around her flat, talking to a hallucination of Denis.
It's an inspired approach, but the film would have been more satisfying either as a straight biopic or a total fantasy.
