Wes Craven's 1972 horror gets a remake that turns the repulsion factor all the way up to 11.

The lecherous close-ups of young female flesh give due warning of what's to come. Teenager Mari (Sara Paxton) and her friend are kidnapped, assaulted and left for dead by a family of psychotic thugs, who then happen upon the home of Mari's parents deep in the woods. A supernasty fight to the death ensues. Director Iliadis creates undeniably tense moments in, but the depravity is so gratuitously in-your-face that even a seasoned film critic might baulk. Garret Dillahunt plays vicious prison escapee Krug – nothing vintage about him, but it's a deeply scary performance.
