The Punk Singer, film review: Kathleen Hanna comes across as an inspirational figure
(15) Sini Anderson, 81 mins
Kathleen Hanna, former lead singer of Bikini Kill, comes across as an inspirational figure in Sini Anderson's rousing documentary about her.
She is as abrasive on stage as she is articulate off it.
Anderson chronicles how she set up a feminist community within the punk scene through music and fanzines, and also elicits frank and moving interviews from Hanna and her husband, Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys, about her struggles with Lyme disease.
