The Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB.com) released its top searched films stars for the year on December 22, based on its STARMeter ranking - searches by more than 100 million monthly unique users of the film website.

The site notes that the list is not based on "critical assessment or box office performance." Popularity may be a factor and film success would appear to have some influence on searches - but not in every case. Last year's position is noted in parenthesis with Kristen Stewart and Christian Bale remaining unchanged.
