Kanye West allegedly punches fan outside LA members club
Artist is named as a suspect by law enforcement after alleged altercation
Kanye West is under investigation by the LAPD for allegedly punching a fan.
The incident reportedly took place on Thursday morning (13 January) at around 3am.
The LAPD confirmed to The Independent that West – who formerly changed his name to Ye last year – is a suspect in the investigation.
“This morning at 3am, officers responded to Santa Fe Ave and Bay Street,” the LAPD’s statement said.
“A Battery Report was completed with Kanye West as a named suspect.
“No arrests have been made and the incident is being investigated by our Newton Division.”
In a video obtained by TMZ, West can be heard saying: “Did y’all say that or not? Did y’all say that or not?
“Because that’s what happened right f***ing now.”
The Independent has contacted West’s representatives for comment.
Just hours before the alleged altercation, West appeared to have been socialising with Madonna, boxer Floyd Mayweather, and actor Julia Fox.
A video posted to Instagram by the owner of Hollywood Unlocked, Jason Lee, showed the group listening to music by Canadian hip-hop star Drake.
West is currently dating Fox, whom he met on New Year’s Eve in Miami. The couple were pictured attending the Tony Award-nominated Slave Play earlier this month. Fox later wrote a blog post about her experience on the date.
This week, West was announced as one of the headliners for this year’s Coachella music festival, alongside Billie Eilish and Harry Styles.
