Sir: A grotesque Christmas/ millennium orgy is approaching. Wisely, both the police and hospital services say they will be fully geared up to deal with it. Clearly, they know what to expect.

Businesses large and small are set to fully exploit the gullibility and greed of the public. Excessive commercialism together with drunken, gluttonous, irresponsible behaviour will show the depths of our society.

I am an agnostic. But if the Bible is true and God and Jesus Christ really do exist, they will be appalled at the forthcoming fortnight of hell masquerading as Christmas celebrations.
