Letter: Care in homes

Care in homes
Sir: Improving standards for residential homes should not just be limited to older people ("Homes for old get tough watchdog", 8 September).
The Government's consultation paper Fit for the Future? highlights dignity, choice, privacy and respect. These are important principles which should apply to all people in residential care, including those with learning disabilities.
Guidance on residential homes has become incomplete and patchy.
Urgent government action is needed to protect people in residential care, including people with learning disabilities.
