Letter: Jesus' literacy

Sir: Instead of quoting an "authority" on the subject of whether Jesus could read and write(letter, 4 November), K B Moody might consider looking at the Gospels for himself. In John 8:6 Jesus writes on the ground with his finger. Perhaps this was simple doodling, but in Luke 4:18 we read that Jesus finds the passage he wants and reads it out to the congregation.
