Letter: Opera for all
Sir: It is well past the time to lay to rest the bizarre myth that tickets to the Royal Opera House are expensive (letter, 10 November). I am not wealthy but I shall be attending almost every production with tickets costing pounds 20-pounds 25. The cheapest tickets start at pounds 2 for ballet and pounds 6 for opera. Half the seats cost pounds 22 or less for a Friday or Saturday evening ballet performance and pounds 40 or less for opera.
As one who recently paid over pounds 50 for a very poor seat for a dull first- round match in the Rugby World Cup, I find these prices very reasonable.
