M.I.L.K. reveals new video for 'If We Want To' - premiere
Artist releases the latest video in a series accompanying his acclaimed EP
Cophenhagen-based artist M.I.L.K. (Emil Wilk) is releasing the 5th of 6 videos that accompany his debut EP A Memory of a Memory of a Postcard.
He explains: "I really felt a need to create something physical for the EP. It's so unsatisfying when everything ends up as streams and links and statistics and internet, internet, internet. So I decided to create something that was more than just MP3 files, and create this video installation to give the EP a visual manifestiation in a phyiscal form.
"The footage is a mix of analogue 8mm shots from travels with friends during the last 6months, and then more abstract studio shots. It's kind of a diary collage built around the themes and memories that inspired the songs on the EP."
We're premiering the video for the sombre but somehow simultaneously cheerful "If We Want To" - check it out below:
Q&A with M.I.L.K.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Uuu, so many different things. Jungle, Leisure, Her, Palmistry, Mura Masa, Sade, BadBadNotGood, August Rosenbaum, Air. The list is long.
What are your plans for the rest of 2017?
I'm in the studio these days working on new songs. I'm bringing in a lot of new collaborators and just having a good time with it. I'm super psyched to get this new stuff out. So many brand new songs, and I'm going to play them at Reeperbahn Festival and Paris later this month, and in London at TGE’s First Fifty Festival in November.
What was the first gig you ever played and what's been the best so far?
The first one was fun! It was at a magazine launch in Copenhagen and everything was still super scrambly. But I kind of knew everyone so the energy was super high! Definitely one of my best gigs to this date. The best one was probably at Roskilde Festival though. I've been a regular roskilde-goer, so to play there was amazing.
