Glastonbury 2015: Isle of Wight festival organiser reveals how he got Fleetwood Mac to headline

The organiser for Isle of Wight Festival has revealed how he managed to book Fleetwood Mac for an exclusive headline slot.

John Giddings told Music Week he was asked by Michael Eavis how he secured the band, to which he replied jokingly: "I paid them!"

In what appears to be a tiny swipe at their competition, Giddings continued: "Glastonbury are in a privileged position, whereby they sell out in advance. They could book my granny and still have a festival.

"The rest of us are still in the realms of having to book a decent line-up and make it attractive to people and want them to come."

Fleetwood Mac announced last year that they would tour Europe with Christine McVie for the first time in 16 years.

Following their performances at The O2, London, they are touring in Amsterdam, Cologne, Antwerp, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin.

Sadly for fans, the legendary 'Rumours' band also said this tour and a new album would be the "last act".

Gigwise recently reported that Isle of Wight's headliners have scored more number one albums than those at any other music festival in the UK this year.
