Muse have been announced as Glastonbury 2016's second headliners.
Their appointment will mark the first time an act has headlined each night of the festival having previously played on the Sunday in 2004 and the Saturday in 2010.
The Devonshire rockers, fronted by Matt Bellamy, announced the news via their Twitter page earlier on today (26 February).
Muse's latest record Drones recently won in the Best Rock Album category at the Grammy Awards.
Coldplay were historically announced as this year's first Glastonbury headliner meaning they will have headlined more than any other act in the festival's history. Despite this, the news received intense internet backlash.
PJ Harvey will play the festival for the first time in 12 years while Jeff Lynne's ELO will play the coveted Sunday evening 'Legends' slot.

Muse released their first album Showbiz in 1999 while the two records that followed - Origin of Symmetry (2001) and Absolution (2003) - are still considered their best; they are still deemed one of the most exciting live acts around today.
Glastonbury takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset from Thursday 23 June to Sunday 26 June.
