Honne, the duo from Somerset and Wiltshire, have been kicking about for a bit, but they've just released their Over Lover EP which is ace.

There's a proper 80s vibe (so hot right now) with these guys, perfect for late nights. Annie Mac named pessimistic break-up anthem "Loves the jobs you hate" her Hottest Record In The World way back in August, which recently got a proper release.

Q&A with James from Honne

Which contemporary artists have you been listening to recently?

Recently we've been listening to Rhye (getting warmed up for their London gig), Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat and Bon Iver.

Who do you cite as your main influences?

This is always a tricky one. I guess on a production level it would be a bit of Michael Jackson. I listened to his music a lot as a kid and am still in awe of how unique his records sound. Other than MJ, all of the artists mentioned above, with a bit of James Blake.

What's your favourite film soundtrack

A favourite for both of us is Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom. I remember Andy getting back from the cinema and searching for a piece of music that he loved in the film because he wanted to sample it for something he was working on at the time. That's a sign of a good soundtrack!

What was your first gig, and what's been your best so far?

Our first gig was almost a year ago now at The Sebright Arms in Hackney. It's hard to say, but I think our best so far would have to be our most recent sold out London gig which, funnily enough, was about 200m down the road from The Sebright Arms at a venue called Oval Space. It was a very special evening for us, seeing so many people (a thousand) singing along to our songs.
