New music to listen to this week: Runaway Saints
Now Hear This
Indie alternative rockers Runaway Saints hail from LA and, rather randomly, opened for Rod Stewart on his latest tour.
Comprised of Johnny Gates (lead guitar, vocals), Jamie Jarbeau (bass) and Matt Scanlon (drums), they've been together for a good while but things are really getting moving now.
Their new track "Weekend" has a great summer vibe and should definitely find its way onto your playlist - check out the song's new video below and let us know what you think:
Q&A with Runaway Saints
What have you been listening to recently?
I’ve currently been going back and forth between the new 1975 album, Cage the Elephant's album Melophobia, and the new Kygo stuff.
What are your plans for summer?
Finally release our first ever album and get back out on the road asap. It’s been such an awesome experience writing and working on the new music, but I miss the van and sketchy motels.
What was the first gig you ever played, and what’s been the best so far?
The first gig we ever played was a metal show in Providence, Rhode Island at a club called The Living Room. We were the farthest thing from metal, but every band was so cool and totally welcomed us. That club got knocked down a few years later, which was such a bummer. So many bands played their first shows there.
As far as the best show so far, I would have to say the first night on the Rod Stewart tour. My mom is obsessed with Rod Stewart, so he was playing in the background for my entire childhood.
The first show was in Toledo, Ohio and my parents flew in. It was our first ever arena show and just the soundcheck was epic. But walking on stage, to that big of a crowd, was unbelievable. Oh and right before Rod went on, we were all watching him walk to the stage, and my dad fist bumped him. It was badass haha. I’ll never forget that night.
