Donald and Melania Trump speak out on A$AP Rocky arrest in Sweden

A$AP Rocky’s trial over his assault charge will begin on Tuesday 30 July, his lawyer has confirmed.

The US rapper was charged on Thursday with aggravated assault over his alleged involvement in a fight in Stockholm.

Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has been detained in Sweden since 3 July, and has previously denied the assault allegation, posting videos of an altercation on his Instagram account, where he alleged that two men had been following his group and harassing them.

The Swedish authorities were also investigating one of the alleged victims on suspicion of abuse, assault and attempted assault, but the case has since been dropped without charge.

Mayers’s mother Renee Black told TMZ: “I feel like Sweden is making an example out of him and it’s so unjust, but yeah, they’re making an example.”

“I don’t wanna pull the race card, but that’s what it’s looking like,” she added.
