The singer was ordered by a judge to return to rehab for anger issues after he threw a rock through the window of his mother's car

Chris Brown was ordered to spend another three months in rehab yesterday after hurling a rock through the window of his mother's car.

The R&B singer became angered during a joint counselling session with his mother Joyce Hawkins on 10 November, in which she suggested her son remain in treatment.

A letter submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court by the rehab facility read: "Mr Brown proceeded to walk outside and pick up a rock and threw it through his mother's car window and it shattered."

The unnamed centre discharged the Grammy winner as he broke a signed agreement promising to refrain from violence while resident.

Judge James Brandlin also ordered Brown to undertake a minimum of 24 hours community service a week cleaning roadsides or graffiti. He was also ordered to submit himself for drug testing and, at the request of his lawyer Mark Geragos, take any medication his doctor prescribes.

The terms, agreed to by Brown and his lawyer, were suggested by probation officials overseeing the star's sentence for beating up his former girlfriend, "Diamonds" singer Rihanna in 2009.

Following his arrest for punching a man who tried to get in a photo with him in October, Brown voluntarily checked into rehab for anger management issues.

The "Love More" singer could receive further sanctions from the court should his latest misdemeanour assault charge be deemed a probation violation.

Probation officials are collecting more details and will report back to Brandlin on 16 December.

The singer has said he wants treatment for his anger management problems and reported being depressing after he was served another 1,000 hours of community service earlier this year following a hit-and-run incident.

Prosecutors have questioned whether Brown will complete his sentence after the report states he has performed just 20 hours so far.

The singer, supported yesterday by his Vietnamese girlfriend Karrueche Tran, is due to appear in a Washington DC court on Monday.
