David Bowie releases Blackstar artwork, music video teaser and promo shots
'Having jazz guys play rock music turns it upside down,' said producer Tony Visconti of the album
David Bowie may have retired from touring, but he isn’t resting on his laurels. The Space Oddity is soon to release the follow up to 2013’s The Next Day, titled ★ (pronounced Blackstar).
While little is known about the record itself as yet - track listing and first single to be released tomorrow - Bowie has treated us to the album cover as well as some typically stylish new promo photographs.
The album is set to be released on the 8 January, 2016, marking his 69th birthday. It will be his 26th record.

Show all 7"Blackstar", the single, will feature on the Sky Atlantic show The Last Panthers, with the music video premiering today at 8.45pm on the channel.
The track was previously reported to be 10-minutes long, with The Times describing the entire album as “completely bonkers”. Watch the teaser below.
Blackstar was recorded at the Magic Shop studio in New York with a host of local jazz musicians. Uncut have reported that saxophonist Donny McCaslin led the group, with virtuoso guitarist Ben Monder and drummer Mark Guiliana also acting as core members of the band.
"Having jazz guys play rock music turns it upside down,” said producer Tony Visconti. "The Next Day started out trying to do something new but something old kept creeping in. Not this album."
