Dolly Parton to make millions from Whitney Houston effect

The country singer Dolly Parton stands to make millions following the death of Whitney Houston.

Sales of Houston's hit "I Will Always Love You", which was originally written and performed by Parton in 1974, have soared since Houston died on Saturday.

Downloads of the single topped 195,000 in the US by Sunday, and the track is forecast to reach No 10 in the UK.

Houston covered the song for the soundtrack to her 1992 film The Bodyguard.

"I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performance she did on my song, and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart, 'Whitney, I will always love you. You will be missed'," Parton said.
