The rapper said the drop of black unemployment under Trump doesn't make him a good leader

Donald Trump has lashed out at Jay-Z for his comments on black unemployment during an interview with CNN.

The hip-hop artist was being interviewed by Van Jones on Saturday (27 January) when he stated the decrease of black unemployment under Trump's presidency doesn't make him “a good leader” because “money doesn't equate to happiness.”

“It's not about money at the end of the day,” the rapper told Jones before seemingly suggesting that Trump should earn respect by “treating people like human beings.”

Jay-Z - whose real name is Shawn Carter - added: “It goes back to the whole thing, you going to treat me really bad and pay me well. It's not going to lead to happiness. It's going to lead to, again, the same thing.”

US President Trump reacted to the hip-hop musician's words on Sunday (28 January) via Twitter.

He sent the message: “Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!”

Jay-Z also criticised Trump for his recent comments about "s***hole countries" branding his comments as "disappointing and hurtful."

He said: “Everyone feels anger, but after the anger it's really hurtful because he's looking down on a whole population of people and he's so misinformed because these places have beautiful people.”
