After 16 years of avant-garde wankery in side-projects (calm down, I like The Mars Volta really), At the Drive-In have returned with new music.

Putting smiles on the faces of fans, ‘Governed by Contagions’ picks up where seminal album Relationship of Command left off, all breakneck speed, chunky riffs with Cedric Bixler shouting over the top.

The dream-like lyrics are vintage AtD-I too, centring around the chorus line: ‘How many bites do you think it takes to get to the cyanide tooth?’

“Resume transmission” the band wrote alongside a lyric video for the new track, a nod to the chorus of ‘One Armed Scissor’ and possibly the title of the new album the single will appear on.

The LP has been produced by Rich Cotsey with band guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. At the Drive-In were recently confirmed for 2017’s Reading and Leeds festivals.
