Ed Sheeran has unveiled the official video for his latest single “Don’t” after the track was released last month.

The clip follows a skinhead man breakdancing through three homes in Los Angeles as we follow his journey from rags to riches.

The choice to feature a well-built actor wearing a white tank top does not exactly reflect the musician’s own dishevelled aesthetic, but Sheeran does make a couple of cameo appearances in the video.

The singer-songwriter teamed up with director Emil Nava to work on the video for the single, which began life as a riff on Sheeran’s phone.

“Don’t” peaked at number 17 in the UK Official Singles Chart after spending five weeks in the top 40.

The 23-year-old maintained his position at the top of the album chart yesterday for the sixth week in row with new album X, making it the longest consecutive number one album since Adele’s 21 in 2011.

Sheeran’s album has overtaken Coldplay’s Ghost Stories to become the biggest-selling record of the year so far.

Last month, the singer-songwriter, who grew up in rural Suffolk, was named the “most important act in black and urban music” after topping the 1XtraPowerList.

The choice was universally derided, with grime artist Wiley calling it “the saddest list in music history”.
