Try and remain calm, Foo Fighters fans, because a mysterious countdown has just appeared on the band’s official website.

If you click on the page, all you will see is a ticker that seems to be leading up to some kind of event on Monday 23 November.

The usual content has disappeared, leaving the clock centre stage beneath a navy and white ‘FF’ emblem. The more beady-eyed among you may also notice some sort of stone statue lurking to the left of the screen, as well as a blurry patterned wallpaper.

Nobody knows what this could mean, but theories suggest that a new album or season of Foos documentary Sonic Highways is on the way. Of course, it could simply be the momentous occasion of frontman Dave Grohl having his cast removed, but that might be a bit too anticlimactic by their standards.

Grohl broke his leg after falling off stage in Sweden earlier this year, forcing the group to cancel their headline slot at Glastonbury.

There’s a while to wait yet, but we reckon Sonic Highways is the most likely bet. The first series followed Grohl and co as they recorded their eighth album across eight different US cities.

It won two gongs at this year’s Emmy Awards and Grohl has already confirmed that there will be a second run at some point.
