Foo Fighters fans wondering what happens next after Dave Grohl broke his leg and cancelled upcoming gigs may have to wait until the end of the week to find out.

The US rock group announced last night that doctors have ordered the frontman to rest after surgery following his fall from a stage in Sweden last Friday.

A spokesperson for the band has confirmed that "full refunds on tickets" will be available to those affected but unfortunately, music-lovers travelling from afar will not be reimbursed for transport and accommodation costs.

Wembley Stadium has posted an announcement on its website reading: "A further announcement will be made on Friday to advise ticket purchasers of the process for refunding of tickets and to report any other available information.

"Ticket purchasers will be contacted directly where possible and information will also be released on all available channels. Please await that release as the point of purchase will have no further information at this time."

Foo Fighters were due to play Wembley on 19 and 20 June before heading to Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on 23 June and Werchter Festivalpark in Belgium on 25 June.

Their hotly-awaited Glastonbury headline slot was scheduled for 26 June. This has also been cancelled and a replacement act is yet to be announced. It is not believed that refunds will be available from Glastonbury.

Wembley added that it "has no information at this time on any possible rescheduling of gigs" so are unable to confirm whether or not tickets can be saved and used in the future.
