Beyoncé will perform at this year’s Grammy Awards, rapper Common has confirmed.

But unlike her raunchy 10-minute opening set she performed with husband Jay Z last year, the singer is set to play a more understated role.

Beyoncé will introduce Common and John Legend’s song “Glory” from the Martin Luther King biopic Selma, by singing the gospel song “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”.

Common told Rolling Stone: “We’re getting an introduction from the great Beyoncé. That’s a whole other level, to have her singing ‘Precious Lord.’ I’m excited.”

“It’s the Grammys stage, so we’re going to deliver some of the best performances we ever had. Expect the spirit of what the movie is about, the spirit of what the movement is about, and the spirit of what ‘Glory’ is about,” he said.

Common and John Legend won a Golden Globe for “Glory” last month and the song has also been nominated for an Oscar.

Beyoncé will join already confirmed performers Kanye West, Rihanna, Paul McCartney, Ariana Grande, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Pharrell at the Grammys on Sunday.
