CBeebies have released a clip of Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme's Bedtime Story.

The rock frontman will read Zog, by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Alex Scheffler, on Friday 6 October.

Zog tells the story of an accident-prone student of Madam Dragon's School, who hopes that a little girl might help him win a gold star.

It will be the first of three recorded Bedtime Stories starring Homme, who joins the esteemed ranks of readers including Chris Evans, Suranne Jones, Tom Hardy, Guy Garvey, David Tennant, James McAvoy and David Hasselhoff.

"Now even dragons need to rest so it's time for Snoopbob Meatball to go to sleep, and you too," Homme tells the camera in a preview clip of the show, apparently having finished reading the book.

"So snuggle up and dream of far away places, and I'll see you soon for another Bedtime Story. Night night."

Queens of the Stone Age released their latest album Villains to positive reviews. It was the best-selling record of the week, according to Billboard, and went to No.1 in the UK albums chart.
