Lady Gaga rumoured to be in talks for Super Bowl Halftime Show

The artist already performed the national anthem at the 2016 Super Bowl to great critical praise

Mother Monster has returned in all her grandeur.

After releasing the first new track, "Perfect Illusion", from her upcoming album, rumours are already starting to fly that Lady Gaga may be performing the Super Bowl's Halftime Show in 2017. Sources told Billboard the artist was currently in talks for the gig, which would see her perform at the 51st annual event held 5 February, at the NRG Stadium in Houston.

Of course, Lady Gaga's gracing of the Halftime Show stage feels only inevitable for someone who's such a consummate pop performer and a major player in the current music scene; though reportedly NFL's interest in Gaga stems particularly from her widely lauded performance of the national anthem during the 2016 Super Bowl.

Considering this year's Halftime Show received mixed reactions due to its strange blending of performances from Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Bruno Mars; the idea of handing full control to Gaga seems a sound decision, considering she'll be offering that perfect blend of ingenious stage craft with just enough shocks to draw in a guaranteed audience.

"We have had conversations with several fantastic artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, at this point we do not have a final decision," an NFL rep told Billboard about the matter. "We’re happy there is so much excitement about the show."

Meanwhile, Gaga is set to return to the small screen with the latest series of American Horror Story, which has been leaving fans crazed with anticipation by withholding the announcement of its theme and releasing a flurry of mysterious teasers for the show.
