Mark Ronson on producing Bond soundtrack: 'It's like every boy's dream'

Ronson has already co-produced the score for the action comedy film Mortdecai

The DJ and music producer Mark Ronson has admitted that he would be interested in working on the soundtrack for the new James Bond film.

The music star said that that he would “definitely” like to be involved in the music for the latest instalment of the British spy franchise.

Speaking to London Live at the premiere for Mortdecai last night, Ronson said, “I mean, they haven’t asked me, so I don’t like to get too wrapped up in things.”

“If I was asked for, I would definitely be – I mean the Bond thing is like every little boy’s dream, so sure, why not?”

The 39-year-old 'Stop Me' singer has co-produced the score for the action comedy film Mortdecai, which stars Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor. The 18-track soundtrack for the film has been released today on iTunes.

Ronson is currently enjoying chart success with his single 'Uptown Funk' as the track spent its fifth week at number one in the UK top 40. The single is the longest-serving chart-topper since Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' in June 2013.

Work is under way on the new Bond film Spectre starring Daniel Craig as the “shaken but not stirred” spy.

Last year details for the 24th Bond film were announced. The film is being helmed by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes and also stars Christopher Waltz, Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux. Thomas Newman, who composed the soundtrack for Skyfall, will be returning to work on the score for Spectre.

If Ronson did get join Spectre, he would be following in the footsteps of friend and fellow collaborator Adele who wrote and sang the Bond theme for Skyfall.
