Sun rises over the White House on Biden's first day as president

Rihanna has celebrated the end of Donald Trump’s presidency and the inauguration of Joe Biden with a photo of herself carrying bin bags.

Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States on Wednesday 20 January, at a ceremony that included performances from Lady Gaga and youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman.

To mark the occasion, Rihanna shared a photo on Twitter from her shoot with Harper's Bazaar last September.

In the picture, she can be seen wearing a T-shirt bearing the slogan: “End racism by any means necessary.” The top is paired with pink slip-on heels, sunglasses and diamond jewellery.

“I’m just here to help. #wediditJoe," Rihanna captioned the post.

Rihanna has long been a vocal critic of Trump. In 2018, she mocked him by posting a viral video of the former president trying and failing to hold the hand of his wife Melania, with her own track edited in. She also condemned him for using her music at his rallies.

In 2019, following Trump’s response to mass shootings in Texas and Ohio, Rihanna branded him the “most mentally ill person in America”.

And in November, when Trump called for votes to stop being counted, Rihanna pushed for every single one to be processed, tweeting: “We can wait.”
