Noel Gallagher and bubble machines do not get along well, as one fan found out during the Oasis musician’s Melbourne gig earlier this week.

Gallagher was on stage performing his string of High Flying Birds and Oasis hits when he noticed bubbles floating around the front row. The 48-year-old Brit Pop hero was predictably unimpressed by the twee sight and soon shared his derisive reaction with the crowd.

“Hey El Houdini, someone actually bought a f**king bubble machine to a gig,” he said. “You’re a magician? Why don’t you make the f**king bubbles disappear then? Did you pay to get in? Or did you magic yourself through the f**king door. If you bought a ticket you’re a s**t magician.”

Gallagher returned to the fan at the end of the gig, joking that “if they mention in the f**king review of this gig that I had a s**t bubble machine on stage you’re in f**king big trouble”.

Sure enough, news.com.au’s review led on bubblegate, although critic Cameron Adams did start his piece with an apology: “Sorry Noel”.
