Q&A with Tuvaband
What are you listening to at the moment?
Recently I got really into Dean Blunt. I love his albums, especially the songs featuring Inga Copeland and Joanne Robertson. These months when I have been all into working on the sound for my upcoming album, I have been listening to “Dark Night Of The Soul” an album by Danger Mouse, Sparkle Horse and many more.
What are your plans for the rest of 2018?
We are doing a tour in Europe as a support act for Mogli starting next week. This year we are playing at The Great Escape and Midsommar Festival in Berlin, which I’ve always wanted to do.
The rest of the year is not set yet, but I will release my debut album early September after releasing a few singles from it. I really hope that the album will fill up the rest of my year.
What was the first gig you ever played and what's been the best so far?
The first gig was in 2014 as a support act in a small club, and that was also the first time I sung in front of friends and family. I had no idea if I would be able to make a sound. Luckily I got to sing, and I wasn’t really that nervous because I just had my eyes closed during the songs.
I think the concert I enjoyed the most was yet another support show, for Amanda Bergman. It was the first time in front of that many people, and I realised that I really enjoy that. I’m looking forward to the day Tuvaband will fill a room like that.
Tuvaband is playing The Great Escape at Queens on Friday 18 May.
