Album: Elton John vs Pnau, Good Morning to the Night (Mercury)
Now here's a happy head-on: Aussie electro-pop duo and Elton John protégés Pnau have sliced and diced prime cuts from their mentor's early-1970s golden age and reconstituted them into a Balearic chill-out mixtape.
A project that's every bit as rich as that description is reductive, with treasurable details – the dubbed-up refrain of "Black Icy Stare", the Merseybeat-ish groove of "Karmatron" – feeding into an overall ambience of lotus-eating sensuality.
