Trip-hop pioneers Morcheeba continue to broaden their approach on Head Up High, incorporating dancehall, dubstep and rock elements into grooves informed by European soundtrack/library music. Remarkably, they still keep it infectious, from the striding "Face of Danger" to the charango and percussion of "Under the Ice", and the synth, scratches and blues guitar of "Hypnotized", which features a Spanish rap from Breaking Bad's Ana Tijoux. Jurassic 5's Chali 2na and Rizzle Kicks' Jordan also contribute raps, the latter's patter heard on "To Be". But the most innovative alliance is with White Denim's James Petralli, whose country-soul tones pair sweetly with Skye Edwards' calm inflections on "Finally Found You".
