Album review: The Silver Seas, Alaska (The Lights Label)
Silver Seas’ frontman Daniel Tashian has paid lip-service to the actual state of Alaska when explaining this album, but all the evidence – references to 1991, red flannel shirts and carrying records under your arms – suggests that he still hasn’t got over the girl he fancied 20 years ago.
It’s tailor-made for soundtracking a soft-focus indie movie. It’s what The Feeling might sound like if they were American; endlessly “nice”, but with nothing to stir the soul.
