Album: Santigold, Masters of my Make-Believe (Atlantic)
Santigold was one of 2008's great pop finds, making the sound of tumbleweed whistling around her second album baffling.
Especially given the results: a humid fever-dream of globally minded electronics and post-punk hauteur even more atmospheric than her debut. As strong on sensually zoned-out ballads as it is on MIA-ish, martial-dance workouts, it even contains what sounds like an apocalyptic riposte to "Kids in America". Bewitching.
