Retro groups aren't meant to develop, messing with the formula at their peril. For their fourth album, Australia's premier funk'n'soul merchants risk Ask the Family-style raga and 1960s film references which don't really work, while the old-style instrumentals sound a little by rote.
What's best is the pop-soul of proper songs featuring the impressive Kylie Auldist, whose own Made of Stone album is well worth hearing. Here, the three track sequence of "Never Be the Girl", "Like Tears in Rain" and "Keep Me in Mind" stands out a mile.
