The Buena Vista Social Club as it was originally meant to be, with Malians jamming down with Cubans; except that the Africans didn't show up first time round.

And you can see what they're getting at with the "cubist" angle. But whether it works entirely as fully inhabited music is moot. Some of it is lovely: meshed tropes, clever twists, new angles. But occasionally it sounds slightly contrived, as if specially designed for the well-appointed modern living space/psyche. Beautifully recorded and packaged, of course.
