Amazon has released a mysterious teaser for a TV adaptation of Fallout, the popular video game.

The clip, unveiled on Thursday, lasts just 23 seconds and contains the mentions “Amazon Original” and “Please stand by”.

Bethesda Games Studios, the game developer behind the franchise, announced in a tweet that it has partnered with Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as produdction company Kilter Films, to bring Fallout to the screen with Amazon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is currently in development but with a series commitment penalty – meaning that Fallout will go straight to series without the need for a pilot stage if the script is deemed successful.

Fallout is an iconic global franchise, with legions of fans worldwide and a rich, deeply compelling storyline that powers it,” Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of television at Amazon Studios, said in a statement.

“And Jonah and Lisa are the perfect storytellers to bring this series to life.

“We’re thrilled to join with Bethesda to bring Fallout to television.”

The post-apocalyptic video game was first released in 1997 and has since had three more releases in the main series, as well as several spin-offs.
