He might have hit the big time as a character more likely to pop frogs into his mouth than pills, but Harry Potter star Rupert Grint is set to make his theatre debut as a drug-addled gangster.

The flame-haired actor better known as Weasley in the hit films will appear in a revival of Jez Butterworth's award-winning play Mojo set in seedy 1950s Soho.

The play was first put on at the Royal Court in 1995.

He will appear alongside Downton Abbey's Brendan Coyle, Daniel Mays and Ben Whishaw in the production at the Harold Pinter Theatre later this year, with previews in October.

The drama s set in a seedy nightclub after the grisly murder of its owner.

Butterworth made a film version of Mojo in 1997 starring Pinter, Ian Hart and Aidan Gillen.

Grint's Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe has appeared in several stage productions since appearing in a 2007 revival of Equus and is currently appearing in the West End in The Cripple Of Inishmaan.
