Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 Preview

*Major spoiler warning for Game of Thrones season episode 5*

The final episode of Game of Thrones is almost here, and so it’s hardly surprising that fan theories are flying around as wildly as a Mad Queen riding her dragon.

There were several key deaths in season 8, episode 5, many of which were difficult to watch. But fans seem to be having trouble letting go of one character in particular.

Given that Jaime Lannister was last seen disappearing under an entire castle destroyed by Daenerys and Drogon, her last remaining dragon, at first it seemed safe to assume that he had in fact died along with his sister Cersei.

But one fan appears to have uncovered a number of points that build up to some (fairly) compelling evidence that Jaime might still be alive.

Tumblr user WeedsAreFlowersToo (via Cosmopolitan) admitted that at first she was just sad to see Jaime go. But after thinking about it, certain things didn’t quite add up.

The first thing that felt “off”, she said, was the lack of goodbyes from the cast to actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime.

“Why isn’t ANYONE acknowledging that Jaime Lannister just died???” she wrote. “Why is nobody in the cast thanking Nik for his performance? Why did Pilou (Euron Greyjoy) and Lena’s (Cersei Lannister) insta post not say anything about Jaime dying?”

She also pointed out that Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth, didn’t say anything when Jaime died, which is odd given the strong bond between the two characters.

“Why isn’t Nik saying anything about what he thinks of the scene? Why did he make a post saying goodbye to Lena, and not to the character he played for 8 years? Why is there no talk of Jaime’s death in the game revealed?”

WeedsAreFlowersToo then turned to Entertainment Weekly and one of its writers, James Hibberd, who has been doing exit interview with a number of key characters who died this season, including Lena Headey (Cersei) and Rory McCann (The Hound).

When someone asked him about Nikolaj's, however, he responded: “Thanks! Holding that one for a bit...”

“Apparently James Hibberd [the EW editor] also said there was a character he was surprised to see alive in episode 6,” WeedsAreFlowersToo said. “I don’t think there is any other character at this point that we would be shocked to see alive except Jaime. Prove me wrong.”

You can find a ranking of every character – from worst best – here and the same for every episode below.

The show will be available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
