Adam Sandler is to create four new original films for Netflix , the online streaming service has announced today.
The comic actor is one of the few screen stars whose movies consistently rank among the most viewed on Netflix across the globe, the company said.
No further details have been released about the films, but it is thought they will all be comedy movies.
The move follows news yesterday that Netflix will release its first original film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend next year, following the success of its original TV series.
Acclaimed Netflix original series House of Cards and Orange is the New Black were both nominated for Emmy Awards earlier this year.
Sandler began his career as a stand-up comedian and joined Saturday Night Live as a writer and actor in 1990.

It will centre on a family whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home, which all sounds a bit Brothers & Sisters, only this is Netflix so there will probably be some sex and fratricide in there somewhere.
