More Better Call Saul is definitely on the way, with AMC confirming a 10-episode third season, according to Deadline, presumably to air next year.

Creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould will return as co-showrunners/executive producers, and we can safely assume that Bob Odenkirk will be back and that Chris Pratt or someone won’t suddenly be playing Jimmy McGill.

Better Call Saul set a cable ratings record with its season 1 premiere and its subsequent steady ratings have clearly proven enough to keep AMC on board. This in spite of a polarised response to the show from critics and Breaking Bad fans.

“What Vince, Peter, Bob and the entire team have accomplished with Better Call Saul is truly rare and remarkable,” said AMC president Charlie Collier. “They have taken one of the most iconic, immersive and fan-obsessive (in the best possible way) shows in television history and created a prequel that stands on its own.”

Gilligan recently discussed the pressure to bring back characters from Breaking Bad.

“It’s difficult not to overdo it,” he said. “We love all these characters and actors from the Breaking Bad universe. The difficulty is maintaining a level of self-discipline to stop yourself from saying, ‘Lets have this person walk through the background,’ or, ‘Let’s have this person get splashed by mud as Jimmy drives by.’”
