Celebrity Big Brother 2018 will feature an all-female house to mark 100 years of women's vote

Male housemates will be gradually introduced over the series to compete in tasks set to question gender stereotypes

How to celebrate such a momentous, historically and politically significant anniversary as the 100th year of women having the vote in the UK?

With a special all-female house on Celebrity Big Brother? Probably not, but it's happening anyway. Never shying away from an opportunity to remind audiences that Big Brother exists and, yes, is still running, Channel 5 has announced a special version of the show for 2018.

The series will launch with an all-female household, before gradually introducing male housemates, with contestants then competing in tasks set to question gender stereotypes.

Big Brother is hoping the decision will help to challenge assumptions of what exactly it means to be a woman - or a man - in the 21st century. The last series of Celebrity Big Brother saw ex-Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding named the winner.

Emma Willis and Ryan Clark-Neal will both return as presenters for the main show and Bit on the Side respectively.
