Georgia Tennant has left Doctor Who fans in stitches with a tweet about her husband, David Tennant.

Georgia, who has been married to the Scottish actor since 2011, retweeted a post from the BBC series’ official Twitter account reading: “What item in your house always reminds you of Doctor Who?”

Alongside the retweet, in reference to her husband, she wrote the words: “I mean…”

The official Doctor Who Twitter page then responded: “It's a mug, right?”

Long-running fans of the series were delighted by the interaction. Many replied with laughing face emojis as well as funny gifs of Tennant from the series.

Last year, Georgia – who is also an actor – delivered a hilarious comeback to a follower who was particularly taken by her husband on social media.

When someone said they wanted to “rail” her husband Tennant used the chance to lovingly mock him, replying: "He’s far too old to even know what that means.”

Georgia’s father is another former Doctor Who star, Peter Davison.

Tennant, who played the 10th incarnation of the Time Lord from 2005 to 2010, previously said he felt  “stupid” marrying the daughter of a fellow Doctor Who actor.
