Don't F**k with Cats killer's disturbing message to internet sleuth revealed

The director of Don’t F**k with Cats, the Netflix documentary viewers are calling the “most disturbing” series they’ve ever seen, has revealed a chilling behind-the-scenes detail involving killer Luka Magnotta.

Don’t F**k with Cats tells the story of the Canadian murderer and the amateur detective work carried out to catch him after he posted a graphic video of himself killing two kittens online.

One moment in the series reveals that Magnotta began stalking one of the sleuths hunting him down, Baudi Moovan AKA Deanna Thomson, after discovering her identity.

What wasn’t in the series, though, was the chilling message Thomson received from Magnotta.

Director Mark Lewis said: “At one point – this isn’t in the film – Deanna Thomson got a message. She knew it was from him, she suspected it was from Luka at the time, and weirdly, it was this quote from Nietzsche.”

The quote read: “Whoever fights monsters should see to it in the process he does not become a monster, and if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back at you.”

Lewis continued: “What that means is, the more obsessed you become in hunting the monster, you almost become the monster. You become as ugly and obsessive as the monster himself.”

He said it was an “extraordinary moment” for Thomson.

“She realised, ‘Oh my God, my world has become so dark. I’ve inhabited this world of this kitten killer and murderer – this wannabe murderer – for so long, I’m beginning to think like him, I’m beginning to sort of feel like him.’”

Despite the efforts of online detectives to alert the authorities of Magnotta’s animal abuse, no action was taken until he murdered and dismembered Chinese student Lin Jun, a killing he also shared online in a video.

Viewers have expressed their horror at the show on social media.

One tweeted: “Do NOT if you’re sensitive to animal abuse. I’m all thinking it had some silly cat videos or something, watched some of the first part then realised it’s disturbing.”
