Eurotrash returning to Channel 4 to settle EU referendum: ‘For which side is anyone’s guess’

Eurotrash, the ostensible current affairs show that served as a gateway source of softcore pornography for a generation of teens, is making a one-off return to Channel 4 on the eve of the EU referendum.

Channel 4 said that the show is coming back to remind its “straight-laced British chums” of the “many, varied and occasionally alarming cultural delights enjoyed by our European cousins”.

“I’m sure when it comes to the referendum, it will be Eurotrash wot wins it,” said the show’s producer Tim Carter, “for which side is anyone’s guess.”

Eurotrash originally ran from 1993 to 2007 on Channel 4 in a late night slot, taking a sideways, kitsch look at politics, sex, fame and weird happenings around the continent, with incredibly lo-fi production values and garish set design.

It famously went underwear shopping with Kylie Minogue and covered an artist who painted with his own semen.

A more light-hearted, culture-orientated contribution to the Brexit debate, Channel 4 said it will bring together “crazy continentals” from across Europe to remind Brits that “without them, we really are just a very sad and insignificant little island with bad food and terrible teeth.”
