Game of Thrones season 6 filming delayed because they ‘can’t get planning permission on a castle’

Game of Thrones has brought in a vast amount of money to northern Ireland, creating jobs and boosting its economy, but some locals in County Down aren’t happy about having a temporary fantasy castle near their backyard.

Filming was scheduled to begin today in Corbet, Northern Ireland, on scenes in Riverrun, the home of House Tully that’s set to feature heavily in season 6.

But ‘according to our sources, filming will not begin tomorrow because there have been some objections to a very, very large structure being built,’ Watchers on the Wall reports.

‘It will have to be examined by local representatives to see if it broke the rules in the original planning application.’

HBO cast and crew will now have to wait on an inspector, expected to arrive Tuesday, who will assess the castle or drawbridge or whatever bit of scenery is objected to.

In future seasons, the creators might think twice about giving King’s Landing that conservatory Cersei’s been dreaming of.

Game of Thrones season 6 is expected to arrive in April 2016.
